Intelligent Design: Yes and No

Dover Pennsylvania: All eight members up for re-election to the Dover school board that had been sued for introducing the teaching of intelligent design as an alternative to evolution in biology class were swept out of office yesterday by a slate of challengers who campaigned against the intelligent design policy.

TOPEKA, Kansas - Risking the kind of nationwide ridicule it faced six years ago, the Kansas Board of Education approved new public-school science standards Tuesday that cast doubt on the theory of evolution.

The 6-4 vote was a victory for “intelligent design” advocates who helped draft the standards. Intelligent design holds that the universe is so complex that it must have been created by a higher power.

The new standards say high school students must understand major evolutionary concepts. But they also declare that the basic Darwinian theory that all life had a common origin and that natural chemical processes created the building blocks of life have been challenged in recent years by fossil evidence and molecular biology.

In addition, the board rewrote the definition of science, so that it is no longer limited to the search for natural explanations of phenomena.

The new standards will be used to develop student tests measuring how well schools teach science. Decisions about what is taught in classrooms will remain with 300 local school boards, but some educators fear pressure will increase in some communities to teach less about evolution or more about creationism or intelligent design.

Finally we see openminded people who are willing to accept the fact that Darwinism/Evolution is a THEORY and the there are other THEORIES that should be given time in the classroom too.

Stores are all jockying for position as we enter the Christmas season. Here just what a few of them are doing:

Walgreens has given $100,000 to help sponsor the Gay Games in Chicago next year.Oddly enough, Walgreens says they agreed to sponsor the Gay Games under the guise of helping prevent AIDS. But the official Gay Games web site has the following promotional statement, which promotes the very type of activity Walgreens says they are trying to prevent.

I wonder who's dollars they're after this year...

Target continues to stand by its decision to ban Salvation Army bell ringers from their stores, making it the largest retailer in America to do so. Target was going to sell a "vibrator toy"; a sex toy, as earlier suggested in a news article, but confirms it will sell the lotions, intimacy (stimulating) gels, and other products associated with it.

I wonder who they're trying to attract...

Wal-Mart has been under fire by various unions in the past two years and has come out with a "mini-movie" trying to place them in a good light with shoppers...

Hmmm; Union troubles, No Salvation Army Kettles but Sex toys are OK, $100,00 for Gay-Games... what's a shopper to do?

Catholic Church in LA comes clean on Abuse

Personnel files - some of which date from the 1930's - were produced as part of settlement talks with lawyers for 560 accusers in a civil suit in LA. The archdiocese has released them to the NY TIMES to make good on a promise to parishioners to come clean about the church's actions in the scandal, church officials said.

The confidential personnel files of 126 clergymen in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles accused of sexual misconduct with children provide a numbing chronicle of 75 years of the church's shame, revealing case after case in which the church was warned of abuse but failed to protect its parishioners.

The Los Angeles cases are in many ways typical of the sexual abuse claims that have stained the church around the country in recent years. The behavior of priests in Southern California was no worse than that seen elsewhere, and the response of senior church officials was generally no better.

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is the nation's largest Roman Catholic diocese, covering 8,700 square miles and serving nearly five million Catholics. The size of the priestly abuse problem here rivals that in Boston, where more than 500 members of the clergy were accused of abusing children over the past 60 years and where the church paid $85 million in 2003 to settle civil claims against it.

Since then, the stakes have risen. Late last year, the Diocese of Orange County in California paid $100 million to settle 85 cases.

Let's hope that the Catholic church in all states "cleans up" it's act and no longer covers up priestly abuses of young boys. If not it may be time to get some "millstones" out to hang them around the necks of those priests who committed such egregious crimes against children and also a few more for those in the heirarchy who covered them up.

Bird Flu Found in Migrant Birds in Siberia

MosNews The bird flu virus has been discovered in migrant birds living in Novosibirsk region. Ducks and geese are thought to have brought the virus from South East Asia, the head of a local zoogenous infections laboratory, Alexander Shestopalov, was quoted by Interfax news agency as saying.

The tests made in spring and autumn are being analyzed and the results will be ready by December, the agency quoted him as saying. The virus was found in a test made last year, he added.Shestopalov noted that direct contact with migrant birds carrying the virus is unlikely because those birds live in thinly populated regions with many lakes.

However, the virus may be transmitted to birds constantly living in the Novosibirsk region, and then to domestic animals and people. In particular, a geese farm is near one of the lakes where the migrant birds live, the agency quoted him as saying.A person can become infected by the bird flu through contact with pigs. “Pigs transmit this disease without pronounced symptoms and it can be transmitted without being noticed,” Shestopalov said.

NY TIMES reports: Fear of the bird flu sweeping across Asia has played a major role in the government's flurry of preparations for a worldwide epidemic.
That concern prompted President Bush to meet Friday with vaccine makers to try to persuade them to step up production, and it led Health and Human Services Secretary Michael O. Leavitt to depart yesterday for a 10-day trip to at least four Asian nations to discuss planning for a pandemic flu.

Man Wakes from Two-Year Coma – was Aware and Remembers Everything

Salvatore Crisafulli, 38, awoke Monday from a two-year long coma. Crisafulli was declared “nearly dead” by doctors after a serious auto accident that left him unresponsive.

His physicians, guided by modern bioethics movement that frequently rates personal autonomy above the value of life, gave up treating him and his family became his primary caregivers.

Crisafulli, a father of four, told Italian media through his brother, that he had heard and understood everything going on around him for two years and had been unable to respond. “I cried in desperation," he said.

Crisafulli’s case highlights a decision – made the same day Crisafulli “woke up,” – by the Italian National Bioethics Committee to recommend that the state must make it mandatory that such patients not be starved or dehydrated to death as in the US court-ordered death of Terri Schiavo earlier this year.

The Italian committee holds an advisory position to government equivalent to that of the President’s Council on Bioethics in the US.

The decision of the National Bioethics Committee flies in the face of the decision of many countries, Canada included, that says the delivery of food and water by any means other than mouth is “extraordinary medical treatment,” which may be withheld.

The Committee president, Francesco D’Agostino said, “To feed an unconscious patient through a tube is not a medical act. “It’s like giving a bottle to a newborn baby who can’t be nursed by its mother ... And then we reflect on the Schiavo case. The woman was left to die of starvation,” he said.

Perhaps our courts will stop taking life away when families will continue to care for their loved ones.

But the passage of time, the self-serving testimonials from the broadcasters he recruited to CBS ("Murrow's Boys"), and the usual nostalgia for newsrooms choking on their own cigarette smoke have puffed the considerable accomplishments of a mortal and flawed newsman into modern miracles. Good Night, and Good Luck, a docudrama that pits Murrow against McCarthy, escalates the veneration to heavenly levels.

A terrific movie about the Murrow-McCarthy duel could be made, mind you, but Clooney and company ignore the material that might argue against their simple-minded thesis about Murrow, the era, and the press to produce an after-school special."

The problem with this movie is that it simply ignores the facts!

Harriet Miers... Born Again Christian

NY TIMES: DALLAS, Oct. 4 - "By 1979, Harriet E. Miers, then in her mid-30's, had accomplished what some people take a lifetime to achieve. She was a partner at Locke Purnell Boren Laney & Neely, one of the most prestigious law firms in the South, with an office on the 35th floor of the Republic National Bank Tower in downtown Dallas."

That's how one of the top stories today in the NY Times starts out...

It continues to reveal how Miers made a decision that turned her life around and filled a void that success had not been able to fill.

"She decided that she wanted faith to be a bigger part of her life," Justice Hecht, who now serves on the Texas Supreme Court, said in an interview. "One evening she called me to her office and said she was ready to make a commitment" to accept Jesus Christ as her savior and be born again, he said. He walked down the hallway from his office to hers, and there amid the legal briefs and court papers, Ms. Miers and Justice Hecht "prayed and talked," he said.
She was baptized not long after that, at the Valley View Christian Church.

It was at that time that she left the Democratic Party too.

Tuesday on the "700 Club," Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the Christian conservative American Center for Law and Justice, said that Ms. Miers would be the first evangelical Protestant on the court since the 1930's. "So this is a big opportunity for those of us who have a conviction, that share an evangelical faith in Christianity, to see someone with our positions put on the court," Mr. Sekulow said.

From Pro-Choice to Pro-Life...

In a discussion with her campaign manager in 1989, Ms. Miers said she had been in favor in her younger years of a woman's right to have an abortion, but her views changed against abortion, as her born-again religious beliefs became a greater part of her life.

Is Bush Leaning Left?

In recent days conservatives have been getting concerned about President Bush.

As USA Today reported yesterday, in light of Hurricane Katrina the President suggested that disaster relief should be taken over by the Pentagon (the military). This would further erode states rights and take away the power of state governors to direct aid. The longer Bush is in power, the more he seems to be touting a big federal government as the answer for the challenges facing Americans. To further incite our fears, yesterday he nominated Harriet Miers to take the place of Sandra Day OÂConnor as an associate justice on the Supreme Court, a choice liberal U.S. Senator Harry Reid praised. If this nominee is confirmed and turns out to be a liberal, I for one will regret the day I voted for Bush because he missed the opportunity of a lifetime to return the highest court back to its constitutional roots.

Guiliani or Clinton in the White House?

NEWSMAX reports that former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said Sunday he will contemplate next year whether to run for president in 2008.

During a visit to Denmark Giuliani said; "I will be considering it next year...".

New York State voters would back former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani for president over home state senator and Democratic Party favorite, Hillary Clinton, according to a Marist College poll released Friday.

Forty-nine percent of New Yorkers say Rudy should run for the White House, while only 40 percent want Hillary Clinton do the same.

While more than two-thirds of Empire State Republicans [67 percent] want Rudy to seek the Oval Office, just 54 percent of Democrats [52 percent] say Hillary should run.

And, the "swing vote" came in with some very interesting numbers:

While 51 percent of Independents back Rudy for president, just 38 percent want to see Hillary back in the White House.

57 percent of New York Independents say they oppose a presidential bid by Hillary.

What's more, despite two years worth of media coverage touting her White House bid, an astonishing 36% of Democrats in that bluest of blue states say Hillary should shelve her presidential ambitions for 2008.

Looks good for Rudy... not so good for Hillary... and she's in no man's land in the NY Senate race too.

Hmmm.

I couldn't be more glad that the confirmation of Chief Justice Roberts is solved. Now comes the grudge match - who replaces Sandra Day O'Connor. Who will the President name to the nation's remaining seat on its highest court. I am preparing for liberals and the rest of the anti-God left in America to come out firing. And Senate Democrats, Chuck Schumer, Pat Leahy, and Harry Ried have already threatened President Bush on who to not to pick. My new column today is a letter to the President on what he should do.

Who Has the Key to Our City?

Yesterday Mayor Bloomberg gave the key to New York City to the Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama’s response as reported by Newsday was “I think with this key I can go everywhere. It can open every door.”

Although many interpret this as just a nice gesture by the mayor, many interpret it as a significant event because the key gate keeper of our city has given a leader of the New Age movement a legal opening to influence our city. Some believe as well that the spiritual implications are great--opening demonic portals into our culture and life.

In essence, Bloomberg, in his desire to be the mayor to all the people, sometimes goes too far and propagates a mish mash of ideology to appeal to the masses which then results in him having a foundation of straw when it comes to faith and morality.

Is God Judging America?

In regards to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and the pending wrath of Hurricane Rita, many folks are proclaiming that God is judging our nation. While there is much biblical and historical precedent to allow for judgment to be expressed through natural disasters, those in the faith community proclaiming such things need to be very careful who they point the finger at. In the past three weeks I have heard Christians claim three different reasons for Katrina

1. Because the United States pressured Israel to withdraw from the Gaza Strip.
2. Because of rampant debauchery and homosexuality during Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
3. Because of the war in Iraq.

Of course, all the bloodletting in regards to legalized abortion the past few decades has made many a Christian say that if God doesn’t judge America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah. Numbers 35:33 says “for blood defiles the land, and no atonement can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it.” This means only a revival of faith, in which the blood of Christ expiates the sin of murder from our land, can pardon our nation from this gross defilement of bloodletting!

Is God judging our nation? Perhaps, but for what transgression? The opinions you hear all depend on the values of those you happen to ask. Before we rush to judge any particular group, we need to remember the words of Jesus in Luke 13:2-3 after a tower fell and killed 18 people: “Do you suppose that these Galileans [residents of New Orleans] were worse sinners than all other Galileans [the United States], because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” Truly this is not a time to judge others but to repent for our nation, cry out to God for mercy and minister to the needs of the evacuees.

Atheists and Katrina

Gary Demar of American Vision reports that "The American Atheists organization says President Bush should stop urging prayer for Hurricane Katrina victims because it violates the Constitution."

As Demar notes, why should an atheist even care about Hurricane Katrina? Given their naturalistic worldview, humans are just glorified one-cell amoebas whose intrinsic value is equal to the cows we slaughter every day for Burger King.

The fact that the church is leading the way in regards to relief effort saliently demonstrates two things:

1. That the government is no match for faith-based outreaches.

2. That those with a Christian worldview have both the motivation and the intellectual capital to alleviate human suffering better than others because of their view on the sanctity of human life.

Who Do We Blame? Katrina or Louisiana Pols?

From everything I have read about the horrific events related to Hurricane Katrina, it seems as though the major flooding took place not from the hurricane itself but from the levees that broke. State and local politicians in the flooded areas of New Orleans and beyond knew for more than 25 years that the levees had to be repaired, but because of typical politicking and inaction nothing was done in spite of the past history and dire predictions of a calamitous future from a category 4 or 5 storm strike.

The "race card" has been played...

It might take up to 6 months to pump out the water in New Orleans...

It might take a year or more for people to get their lives started again...

God is still on the Throne...

Jesus is still the Lord of Life...

The Peace that the Messiah; Jesus, can bring still goes far beyond human understanding...

Some people are not blaming anyone for Katrina's devastation, not even God...
They are pulling together every ounce of strength they have to help others...

Latin American Evangelicals Affected by Robertson

There is another aspect to Robertson's statement concerning Col. Hugo Chavez...

by Kenneth D. MacHarg writing for CHRISIANITY TODAY says that Robertson may have created new difficulties for believers in Venezuela and throughout Latin America

"There is already enough tension between Roman Catholic and Protestant (evangelical) leaders in Latin America. In some parts of the continent, particularly the Andean region of South America and isolated parts of Mexico, violence still erupts against evangelical churches, pastors and congregations." says MacHarg.

A missionary with a number of years experience in Venezuela said that there is a potential backlash in Venezuela against U.S. missionaries.

Most of Latin and South America was completely Roman Catholic until just the past two decades and there is much tension due to the huge numbers of people leaving the Catholic Church and joining Evangelical/Pentecostal Churches.

Many Latin American churches have been raising up their own leaders who strongly speak prophetic words about politics and social conditions in their countries. And remember, they speak from their own experience and their personal knowledge of their culture.

Many feel that they don't need a foreign TV evangelist calling for the assassination of their political leaders.

Court Sides with Student on Right to Wear Scripture-Bearing T-Shirt

A federal judge has told an Ohio school district it can no longer bar a middle school student from wearing a t-shirt with a Christian message.

A judge ruled that a school violated the constitutional rights of a student by prohibiting him from wearing a t-shirt bearing a quote from the Bible verse John 14:6.

The front of the shirt reads: "Jesus said, 'I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.'" The back of the shirt contains the statements: "Homosexuality is sin. Islam is a lie. Abortion is murder."

Although no complaints were filed over the t-shirt, a few school officials, described by the student's attorney as "overzealous," deemed its message may be "offensive" to some individuals and "potentially disruptive," and thus could not be displayed.

Of course, t-shirts with contrary messages, swearing or anti Christian messages are hardly ever challenged!

The student's attorney says the decision handed down by the judge has a "broad, sweeping significance," especially for students in the southern district of Ohio, many of whom he says were watching for the outcome.

The judge's ruling sets a persuasive precedent. The attorney feels that due to the jurisdiction of the court over other schools and school districts, the ruling will allow students to freely express their viewpoint on the same issues and to wear the same t-shirt to school.

Robertson Clarifies Assasination Comment

Pat Robertson spoke from Virginia Beach today and CBN reported the following:

"I want to take this opportunity to clarify remarks made on the Monday, August 22nd edition of The 700 Club where I adlibbed a comment following a very brilliant analysis by Dale Hurd of the danger that the United States faces from the out-of-control dictator of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez.

In this story, Col. Chavez repeatedly claimed that Americans were “trying to assassinate him.”

In my frustration that the U.S. and the world community are ignoring this threat, I said the following:

'Thanks, Dale. If you look back just a few years, there was a popular coup that overthrew him; and what did the United States State Department do about it? Virtually nothing; and as a result, within about 48 hours, that coup was broken, Chavez was back in power. But we had a chance to move in. He has destroyed the Venezuelan economy, and he’s going to make that a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism all over the continent.

I don’t know about this doctrine of assassination, but if he thinks we’re trying to assassinate him, I think we really ought to go ahead and do it.

It’s a whole lot cheaper than starting a war, and I don’t think any oil shipments will stop. But this man is a terrific danger, and this is in our sphere of influence, so we can’t let this happen. We have the Monroe Doctrine, and we have other doctrines that we have announced, and without question, this is a dangerous enemy to our south, controlling a huge pool of oil that could hurt us very badly. We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. We don’t need another 200-billion-dollar war to get rid of one strong-arm dictator. It’s a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with.'

Pat then went on to say:
"Is it right to call for assassination? No, and I apologize for that statement."

I spoke in frustration that we should accommodate the man who thinks the U.S. is out to kill him. Col. Chavez has found common cause with terrorists such as the noted assassin Carlos the Jackal, has visited Iran reportedly to gain access to nuclear technology, and has referred to Saddam Hussein and Fidel Castro as his comrades. Col. Chavez also intends to fund the violent overthrow of democratically elected governments throughout South America, beginning with neighboring Colombia.

As I report the news daily from around the world, I am acutely conscious of the fact that our nation is at war. Not only are there active wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, but there is a war of terror being waged against civilized nations throughout the world.

We are in the midst of a war that is draining vast amounts of our treasure and is costing the blood of our armed forces. I am a person who believes in peace, but not peace at any price. However, I said before the war in Iraq began that the wisest course would be to wage war against Saddam Hussein, not the whole nation of Iraq. When faced with the threat of a comparable dictator in our own hemisphere, would it not be wiser to wage war against one person rather than finding ourselves down the road locked in a bitter struggle with a whole nation?

The brilliant Protestant theologian, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who lived under the hellish conditions of Nazi Germany, is reported to have said:

“If I see a madman driving a car into a group of innocent bystanders, then I can’t, as a Christian, simply wait for the catastrophe and then comfort the wounded and bury the dead. I must try to wrestle the steering wheel out of the hands of the driver.”

On the strength of this reasoning, Bonhoeffer decided to lend his support to those in Germany who had joined together in an attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Bonhoeffer was imprisoned and killed by the Nazis, but his example deserves our respect and consideration today.

There are many who disagree with my comments, and I respect their opinions. There are others who think that stopping a dictator is the appropriate course of action. In any event, the incredible publicity surrounding my remarks has focused our government’s attention on a growing problem which has been largely ignored."

Pat Robertson... Politician or Preacher?

It seems that Pat Robertson has crossed over from Preacher to Politician again...

Remember, he once sought the Office of the Presidency of the United States...

It seems that Pat has suggested that Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez should be done away with... um, let's see, that means "assasinate" him doesn't it?

Sounds like Pat is advocating the old times at the CIA when they were allowed to assasinate people. Something that our Congress has taken away from them in recent years.

I received an email this morning from a prominent Christian Leader who said that Pat doesn't speak for the majority of Christians... is he sure of that?

I think Pat might just be saying what others are thinking...

This email stated that Jesus never advocated assasinating our enemies. Well, he's right, Jesus didn't do that.

That's why we have a problem here... Was Pat speaking as a Preacher or as a Politician?

I think the Politician in Pat was coming out.

As a Preacher he has to be very careful about statements advocating assasination.

But, as a Politician he has every right to advocate doing away with enemies of State.

As a Preacher, I would not advocate the assination of a person BUT as an American I certainly believe that our Government has a right and an obligation to do whatever is necessary to protect us from our enemies.

I'd like to see Bin Laden lying in a coffin...

So how far removed is it to say that Chavez in a coffin wouldn't be such as bad sight either?

This opens up a can of worms...

When Jesus said to "turn the other cheek" did he mean to do that if someone is breaking into home with deadly intent? Of do you do all you can to stop an intruder from raping and murdering your wife and children?

Doug Forrester meets w/ Clergy Group

Len Deo is the President of the New Jersey Family Policy Council and I was there today with Len and about a dozen members of his Clergy Advisory Committee to meet with Candidate Doug Forrester today.

This was a congenial gathering where Mr. Forrester spoke of his concerns for New Jersey and his reasons for running for Governor. After about 10 to 15 minutes the meeting was opened up for Q&A.

Forrester spoke of his concern for the economic state of affairs in NJ and then he mentioned that the people of NJ had great concerns for the corruption that has plagued the State for some time now. He said that corruption in politics went from being number 12 to number 2 in importance due to the scandals of the past few years.

Forrester is well known for his business background but he told us how he had come to Princeton Theological Seminary to study there because of his faith. He also has a degree in Philosophy from Harvard.

The questions that were asked of Mr. Forrester were direct but not confrontational. The atmoshphere in the room was truly one of openess... openess to find out what was in the heart of this candidate.

Forrester plainly stated a few positions that he held:

He is pro-traditional marriage for both theological and sociological reasons

He is for stem cell research BUT not embyronic stem cell research

He said that he wanted to bring more integration between faith and religion and politics so there would be less polarization there

He also said that he was concerned with New Jersey's Supreme Court makeup and that he would, if he had the opportunity, be careful to select people who would exercise judicial restraint so that each branch of government would do the job it is supposed to do

He spoke about the great inheritance that we have as Americans and of our duty to our Nation to preserve it

After our time together was over several of us shared our thoughts...

I walked away feeling that Mr. Forrester was as a man with convictions... he is not a Minister of the Gospel as I am and so his convictions did not match mine exactly but I did not expect them to. I saw a man who seemed to have a sincere desire to serve the people of New Jersey.

Not only did he have the conviction and desire, he seemed to have the background and the ability to do it.

His philosophy, faith, inteligence and candor was evident to me. I'm going to watch this race carefully.

Mainstream Media is Still Biased

In an op-ed piece today in the NY Times Paul Krugman brings up the 2000 Election and the Florida debacle.

Krugman has brought it up twice now in the past two weeks. Why? He says that we must remember history as it really was...

If that's the case, in everything he says about counts and recounts he NEVER MENTIONS that the Mainstream Media came out EARLY and called Gore the winner of Florida attempting to sway voters!

And even after Bush won Florida despite the counts and recounts and the media onslaught against his victory Krugman says that the "man the voters tried to reject ended up as president".

This is simply the old tactic of repeating a thing often enough until people start to believe it.

Don't believe it! And don't be silent either!

Kirk Cameron: Fool for Christ?

Today Kirk is an Evangelist sharing the Good News of the Kingdom of God...

Cameron tells a story how he led a person to Christ:

He was in an airport waiting for his flight and decided to go to Starbucks for a latte. When he paid he gave the man serving him a Christian tract that looked like a One million dollar bill and struck up a conversation with him and another man.

Kirk finishes the story:

"As I was flying home, I thought of what a wonderful morning it had been. I was tired, I wanted to go home, and along the way I had surely disappointed some of the people with my “religious zeal” when I handed them a tract."

"I thought of how easy it would have been to go back to the old Kirk, ducking the crowds, wearing the sunglasses and the baseball hat, not taking the chance of being ridiculed by anyone."

"But it was because of a change in my heart as a Christian, a sincere compassion for the lost, and a desire to see them safely in the arms of the Savior, that I did what I did. NY Times Repeats Warnings of Profiling to Blair

In an editorial August 19, 2005, the NY Times repeats its liberal, not fair stance against Britain's new terrorism policies:

The editor writes: "Terrorism typically prompts democratic societies to sacrifice some liberty in the name of more security, and Britain, after the deadly July 7 subway and bus bombings in London, has been no exception."

This is true... changes must be made when a nation is attacked by terrorists BUT they continue:

"The problems come when hastily considered security measures damage essential democratic rights or consign whole communities - the law-abiding along with the dangerous - to second-class citizenship. That kind of broad-brush profiling is not only unjust but also unwise, because it tends to dry up the cooperation from community leaders that is essential to isolating the terrorist fringe."

Profiling... such a nasty word... yet without "profiling" how would we ever catchg serial killers and others like them.

The problem here is that liberals seem to forget one thing... "if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... it is a duck!"

If community leaders are so helpful in isolating the terrorist fringe why has it take almost 4 years for a group of Moslem Clerics here to finally come out and say that they reject terrorism?

What do these important community leaders usually do? Turn a deaf ear to sanity, that's what they do.

Do law abiding citizens have a right to live in a land where they can raise their children and enjoy their country or do they have to share it with extremists who continually excite the terrorist fringe and those who are close to joining it?

When a person commits a crime they have certain rights... BUT they also give up certain rights that peaceful citizens have. And to continue to treat criminals as if they were peaceful citizens is wrong!

There will never be a day when terrorists and peaceful citizens can live together in harmony! The only way to ensure peace is to remove the terrorists AND remove those that excite others to terrorism.

Freedom of Speech... you can't yell "Fire" in a movie theatre... you've infringed on the safety and the rights of others.

Neither can you excite terrorism... it promotes others to infringe on the safety and the rights of others.

Profile everyone... look at every clue... find those that are terrorists and find those that endorse and promote it and do whatever you have to do to ensure the safety and the rights of peaceful citizens.

That's what has to be done... this is the real world... not some idylic land of ivory towers.

ARIZONA and NEW MEXICO DECLARE STATE OF EMERGENCY

Citing the violence and damage to property caused by illegals coming into their states through Mexico the Governors of both States have declared a State of Emergency.

RALPH BLUMENTHAL writes in the NY Times today that both Democratic Governors feel the Federal Government has let them down.

Arizona is the busiest illegal gateway along the Southwest border. While trying to enter illegally Blumenthal reports that "scores of illegal immigrants are found dead of exposure in its deserts each year."

The two governors said their actions would make available $1.75 million in New Mexico and $1.5 million in Arizona for extra sheriff's deputies and other officers, and for overtime costs and more equipment.

The President of Mexico, Vicente Fox, visited the state of Sonora across the border from Arizona and urged United States officials to work with Mexican authorities on solutions. Mr. Fox called the crime problem a "shared responsibility for both governments."

The problem here is that Mr. Fox is also happy to have his people enter the US illegally because it helps eliminate the problems he faces in Mexico.

"There is organized crime here," Mr. Fox said, "and there is organized crime there. On this side and that side, there is drug consumption. The only solution is to work together."

If Mr. Fox really wants to work together he has to stop looking the other way and start to take action on his side of the border.

Our States are inundated with illegals who are now dependant on US Government monies because liberals allow them to apply for welfare, medical assistance, driver's licenses, etc.

How can we stop the flood of illegals when we legitimize them being here?

Some might say that the Christian thing to do is to let them in and take care of them... But the Apostle Paul said that Christians should do what they can to help others BUT FIRST take care of the family of faith.

Applying that to the problem of illegals we need to take care of our American social problems before we try to fix Mexico's problems by allowing illegals to stay in our States.

Besides the ecomonic problems that this situation creates there is also the danger of terrorists being smuggled into the county!

As I reported several weeks ago, street gangs are now in the smuggling of terrorist business and there are reporst that they are also smuggling in components of nuclear bombs!

We have to stop the madness and get tighter on border security or we will find our way of life and our nation lying in the gutters of devastation and destruction.

Freedom of Speech

In today's NY Times GEOFFREY R. STONE, a law professor at the University of Chicago, writes an op-ed piece called What You Can't Say Will Hurt You in which he cautions British Prime Minister Tony Blair concerning their Brits new policy of deporting foreign nationals who justify the use of "violence to further a person's beliefs"; authorizing the denaturalization of British citizens who engage in "extremism"; and legislating a new "offense of condoning or glorifying terrorism."

He goes on to mention several times in American history where "free speech" was brought into question due to war or the threat of it. Mr. Stone makes some excellent points in the piece warning of the extremes of suppression of free speech.

He tells how during the 1940's our government instituted a series of denaturalization proceedings against foreign-born German-Americans who supported Nazi doctrines or were active in the German-American Bund, a pro-Nazi group but the Supreme Court held that these actions were unconstitutional, explaining that an individual cannot be denaturalized for making "sinister-sounding" statements.

The court sharply distinguished between radical dissent, which is protected by the First Amendment, and "exhortation calling for present violent action which creates a clear and present danger," which is not.

We would do well to remember this ruling... what we need to do is to analyze what people are saying and see if it fits the Supreme Court ruling. If it does... out they go!

Terrorists are not merely dissenters but are criminals who advocate violence "which creates a clear and present danger".

This is why the Brits are correct to bar or deport anyone such as Sheik Omar Bakri Mohammed who has been barred from returning to Britain.

Mr. Stone does well to remind us of extremes BUT we should also remember September 11, 2001 and do all we can to make sure that those events are never duplicated on our shores.

Britain Bars Muslim Cleric

SARAH LYALL of the NY TIMES reports today: that Britain will "bar a London-based Syrian cleric, Sheik Omar Bakri Mohammed, from ever returning to Britain, which granted him political asylum and has been his home for the last 20 or so years, because his presence "is not conducive to the public good."

Bakri Mohammed, who is known for his fiery anti-Western sermons, left Britain last Saturday, a day after Prime Minister Tony Blair announced legislative measures against religious leaders preaching violence.

The Times reports that besides this Cleric being barred from returning to Britain there are 10 foreigners who pose a threat to Britain and will be deported; "Human rights groups and British Muslims have criticized the deportation plan, saying they feared that the 10, all men, would be sent to countries where they faced abuse, torture and death sentences, in contravention of European human rights laws."

Lord Falconer, Britain's lord chancellor, defended the deportation stating that possible abuse of these men abroad had to be weighed against the threat they posed to Britain after the London subway bombings last month, which killed 56 people, including the four bombers.

"The deportee has got rights, but so have the people of this country," Lord Falconer told BBC Radio.

Now, concerning America...

If only our legislators would only have the courage to stand up to human rights groups, civil libertarians and the like and deport foreigners who stir people up with anti-American rhetoric we would have a safer country.

We have to make a distinction between the rights of American Citizens to "free speech" and the inflamatory speech of these haters of the West.

What is our right is not theirs and we should deport every "guest" in our country who speaks and stirs up people against the great Nation.

Pirro to Challenge Hilary

NEWSMAX report that today on Fox News' "The Big Story" with John Gibson, Jeanine Pirro said she's looking to take carpetbagging Senator Hillary Clinton's Senate seat away from her because "People from New York want a real senator from New York."

When Hillary Clinton came to New York, New York put out the welcome mat, but now she's using that welcome mat as a doormat to take her to the presidency, and that works against us because we need a full-time senator who is going to focus on the issues that are important to us in New York."

Gibson asked if the focus of her race was to let Senator Clinton move on, and pick someone who is going fulfill their term?

"If you have a senator who is in Iowa or New Hampshire, not only is she absent from votes, but you've got the interests of New York, that may be contrary to the interests of other states, and if she's trying to appease other states in primary contests, then New York loses out."

Gibson then asked if Pirro was ready to take on the "vaunted Clinton political machine, which chews up opposing candidates?"

"You know I've run for office," said Pirro, "... politics is a blood sport. But I like to think at some point that people get down to the issues about you and your record, and I have a record of 15 years in public life and elected office."

She said she wasn't going to be dissuaded just because Hillary's approval numbers are high. "There's only one woman who really wants to be the United States senator from New York."
"I have a record of achievements that I'm proud of, I'm a New Yorker, I understand there are issues New Yorkers are concerned about: terrorism, education, Social Security ... making sure that there are jobs in upstate New York."

TEHRAN, Aug. 8 - Iran resumed sensitive nuclear activities at one of its facilities on Monday, despite warnings from European negotiators that the move would prompt them to refer the case to the United Nations Security Council for punitive action.With surveillance cameras from the International Atomic Energy Agency installed, Iranian technicians at a facility outside Isfahan resumed the intricate process of converting uranium that Iran says is intended to yield energy but that the West worries is a precursor to the development of nuclear weapons.

The United States and its European allies reacted with dismay to the renewed activity, and left little doubt that they would take Iran to the Security Council with a recommendation for economic sanctions if Iran does not back down.
The State Department even held out the possibility that the United States might deny a visa to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was sworn in Saturday as Iran's president, to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York next month.

Iran has long contended that it has the legal right under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty to convert and enrich uranium for peaceful energy purposes, but agreed to suspend its activities as long as negotiations lasted with Britain, France and Germany over its nuclear program. Iran has admitted to deceiving inspectors for 17 years about many of its activities, and the United States argues that those deceptions effectively negate its right to a full nuclear program and that they provide a basis for international sanctions.

HANDS OFF THE KIDS

As an adopted child, I am not allowed to ever know the content of the secret records that were processed in my parent's adoption of me. As an adoptive parent - I would never want anyone outside the circle of those involved in the process to delve into the mounds of information that is compiled for the processing of an adoption.

Having said that - the New York Times has reached an all time low in its attempt to smear a Supreme Court nominee. The stench is so foul it required the attention of my new column - out today in WorldNetDaily.

But even hardened Democrats are calling it stinky...

Bob Beckel - long time liberal pundit - said this on Fox And Friends this morning on the Fox News Channel:

BOB BECKEL: You want a short segment? You are about to get it. I couldn't agree more. This is the problem. This is what happens to us who are liberals, that is our newspaper of record, The New York Times, does something like this and have I to come on my favorite show in the morning and defend this stuff. Guess what? I think it is absolutely just off the wall crazy. You know what else? The Washington Post, did this on what they wear, they criticized the kid's clothes and his wife's clothes. I wish my kids would look like those kids did. The worst part on a serious note, we wonder why people are not going to get involved in public service anymore?"

The New York Times tried to hammer out a PC response earlier today to the questions being raised about putting their reporters on this unseemly task...this was from the response that they sent to Salem Communications directly...

"...Like all major news organizations, we report extensively on the life and career of any nominee or candidate for high public office. Most of the inquiries we make do not result in published articles at all; we would simply be remiss if we did not ask the questions..."

It matters not what the excuse was... Adoption records are so secret that those involved can not - for even good reasons of personal anxiety - access. Now we have to worry about the grimy hands of the ill-intended New York Times leaving their muddy fingerprints into the sensitive areas of people's lives?

City Sued over Bag Searches

Five city subway riders and a civil liberties group sued the city Thursday. They want the police to stop the random searches of bags in subways. They said they are "ineffective, unconstitutional and a publicity stunt that does not enhance safety."

Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union spoke at a news conference to announce the lawsuit and said they want police to stop terrorists and improve safety calling the searches "useless measures designed to give subway riders a false sense of security".

When I ride the subways or the PATH and I see the police, the army, the dogs... you know what... I feel a little safer.

If I have to have my briefcase looked at for a moment I don't mind... no more than I mind taking my shoes off at the airport! In fact, I'm glad they're doing these searches! And the more random they are, the better!

But Christopher Dunn, the New York Civil Liberties Union's associate legal director doesn't feel that way. He said the random search of people's bags and packages on public streets were a violation of a fundamental civil rights.

Gail Donoghue, a lawyer for the city said the subway searches meet all legal requirements and preserve "the important balance between protecting our city and preserving individual rights."

She added: "We believe the NYCLU is shortsighted in failing to recognize this. We are confident our position will prevail in court."

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he was disappointed with the NYCLU.

"The plan that we've come up with, where it's random and fair to everybody and adds to the security of this city, is the appropriate thing, and I'm just sorry that they've chosen to go in this direction," he said.

Iran has been negotiating with three European nations; Britain, France and Germany - re: its nuclear program. They had stopped it but now are going to start it up again.

Britain, France and Germany sent a warning that talks would end if Iran resumed nuclear activities. It seems that they don't care...

Iran said Sunday that it was going to resume work at a uranium conversion facility in Isfahan.

The United States contends that Iran intends to produce nuclear weapons. Iran says that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

I think it should be clear to all nations that once Tehran begins to convert uranium into nuclear material we are all in danger of weapons of mass destruction being produced.

In my opinion, Iran now joins North Korea as a "rogue" nation and it is lying through its teeth about their "peaceful" intentions!

The United States, Britain and any other sane Nation should start NOW; both OVERTLY and COVERTLY, to make sure these nations CANNOT produce WMD...

After telling us all about the hypocrisy of these libs she finishes with:

Bush on Intelligent Design and Evolution

According to an article in today’s New York Times, President Bush says that he supports the view that both intelligent design and evolution should be taught in the public schools. The article reports:

“Mr. Bush’s science adviser, John H. Marburger 3rd, sought to play down the president’s remarks as common sense and old news.

“Mr. Marburger said in a telephone interview that ‘evolution is the cornerstone of modern biology’ and ‘intelligent design is not a scientific concept.’ Mr. Marburger also said that Mr. Bush's remarks should be interpreted to mean that the president believes that intelligent design should be discussed as part of the ‘social context’ in science classes.”

My thoughts on this response:
--Evolution may be the cornerstone of modern biology today, but it won’t be in the next few decades because of the advances in science that show evolution is an irrational theory more than an established fact.
--To say that intelligent design is not a scientific concept is the height of ignorance because the creation of the world by God explains everything in the cosmos, including all the sciences. A correct response would have been that intelligent design is an alternative to the present naturalistic view of the universe that should definitely be discussed adjacent to the theory of evolution.
--Intelligent design should not be discussed in a “social context” (humanities class, etc.) but in a biology class because it has a right to be treated as a rational explanation for the origin of all things, even if it’s based on supernaturalism.
--More and more scientists are revealing their dirty little secret: that in the upper echelons of science, many scientists have doubted many aspects of evolution because of all the flaws and mathematical impossibilities random selection presents.
--It takes more faith to believe in a “matter in motion plus chance” explanation for the complex but orderly universe than it does to believe that an intelligent designer created the cosmos.

Riverside Church... OK to be GAY?

At a special meeting at Riverside Church on Sunday evening the senior minister; Rev. James A. Forbes said: "Your job is to get up every day and be grateful to God for your DNA," Forbes said. "It took an artist divine to make this design!"

Rev. Forbes wants to correct the "anti-gay" rhetoric coming from conservative church leaders.

The real rhetoric is coming from people like Forbes and Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields who said that the discrimination she grew up with in the old South was kin to the treatment of homosexuals today.

More rhetoric came from Arun Gandhi who is a grandson of Mohandas Gandhi.

He likened the treatment of homosexuals to the treatment of non-whites under apartheid in South Africa.

How can these people compare the horrors of apartheid and the of "jim crow" in the South to the treatment of homosexuals today? It is appalling!

It is more rhetoric trying to link gay rights to civil rights! Outrageous!

Forbes says that it's rhetoric when Black Pastors call homosexuality a "sin" and it should not and cannot be compared to civil rights issues!

Folks, this is the big lie theory in action...

Adolf Hitler told his cronies not to tell small lies but to tell big lies and he assured them that if you tell a big lie often enough people will believe it.

God help us... the Liberals and experts at telling big lies... I hope and pray that Americans are savvy enough not to swallow them!

Hillary '08 - THE LADY WHO DIVIDES

This morning this story popped up in the Tuscaloosa News. An outside group - supposedly - not affiliated with the Clinton campaign is already airing ads supporting her run for the presidency in the early primary state of New Hampshire.

The ads are designed to gin up the excitement and to firmly plant Hillary as the frontrunner in the minds of that state's "first in the nation" voting position.

There has been a consistent debate over whether Hillary has the steam to make it through the primary and general election cycle in 2008. Most critics who seem to think she won't always cite the same reason.

"Hillary is the strongest Democrat. She's the most popular woman in the country," said Kunst, who believes the polarizing senator will attract votes from Republicans who are unhappy with the Bush administration.

"The party simply says, 'Well, Hillary divisive, Hillary controversial.' We say that is an asset, not a liability," Kunst said. "Nobody gets attacked like her, but on the other hand nobody has the support like her."

For what it's worth. Divisive and controversial is exactly what she will have to be to give herself definition from the rest of the crowd of liberal standards that will attempt to run against her.

In marketing you always try to make your brand something that is distinct and triangulating division is how the Clintons were successful in the 90's.

I don't know if it gets her anywhere in the general election. But for the duration of the primary - expect Hillary to be divisive and controversial - she has to win the base. Expect the more calm, resolute Hillary to show up after the rest have dropped out and she's on her way to the big dance.

In all of the craziness that our lives have been life for the last three weeks, its been impossible for me to give any attention to blogging. However, it did not mean that for the radio show and for my attention span that I wasn't tuned in to the biggest stories coming down.

Having said that I am quite disappointed that the major story of Air America standing benefit to nearly a half million of tax-payer dollars and receiving nearly no coverage of the questionable nature of it has made my brain stand on end.

Last Wednesday was the first time I addressed it on the air. Michelle Malkin had led me to the really stellar star of the breaking story Radio Equalizer owned from the beginning. Read just his blog if you have no time for anyone else to get completely up to speed.

Last Wednesday I began to call for all MuscleHeads who listen to the show to begin aiming their phone calls directly to the Air America headquarters here in New York City. Several of them reported back being hung up on. The rest for the most part got transferred to a voice mail of the woman who supposedly is handling the PR fallout on the matter. By the way if you would like to place a call... 212.871.8100. My only request is that you remain civil while speaking with them if you in anyway represent yourself as a reader of this blog or listener to MuscleHead Radio.

The other thing that steams me is that these are the same group of people who ran ads during the last two presidential campaigns with the most outrageous claims possible. According to the liberals that Air America claims to speak for - Republicans canibalize children. According to the collective group of out of work "comedians" that make up the Air America line-up, liberals are the only ones who truly care about the poor, hungry, disadvantaged, and homeless.

Never mind that the MuscleHeads that make up the listenership to my show - just this last weekend raised $30,240 to get wheelchairs to 720 of the most forgotten people on the globe. In 2005 they have sponsored 343 children through World Vision to the tune of $123,480, 187 children through Compassion International to the tune of $71,808. They have built homes for 19 families in the Ghettos of Jamaica - $38,000. They have sponsored more than 100 families of orphans in sub-saharan Africa where the AIDS epidemic has wiped out entire towns of parents - $24,000. Sent nearly $250,000 in aid to the Tsunami. Built three churches in India for congregations who don't have them - $35,000. Sent the medicines to cure more than 100 orphans who have leprosy - $24,000. And gotten Bibles to those in Africa, China, and for children who could not afford them - $48,000.

In short - this far into 2005 - MuscleHeads have given of their own pockets more than $644,500 to help more than 26,726 people. Compare that - from a mean, nasty listenership of evangelical, Christian, conservatives to the $500,000 that Air America fleeced from the mouths of hungry kids in the Bronx, and seniors who needed the services that those dollars would have provided.

Increasingly liberals are giving audiences like mine which is 60% African American, more and more demonstrable reasons why they can not be trusted with any form of power - but especially any access to the tax dollars.

The other part of this shame is that the media capital of the world has all but ignored this story. Bloggers haven't - WizBang, Red State, and the ever adorable LaShawn Barber have reported facts and updates faithfully. Even teen blogger Ian Shwartz has had better coverage than any of the print rags in New York City.

I will go out on a limb here and assert that if it were ever shown that MuscleHead listeners donations had gone anywhere other than what they were designated for - Air America would lead the crusade for my ouster as a voice in New York Radio. But here the city has a full scale investigation underway in which so much has already been turned up... and the yet the broadcast and print outlets have pitched a near shutout on the wrong doing.

The bottom line is - sometimes evil people don't get held accountable for their actions as they should. And even if I continue to be the only voice in New York airwaves that bring attention to the matter, I will not relent.

Air America should give the full near half million back to the tax-payers of this nation. You and I did not decide to make a donation to the failure of a business model known as Air America - nor should we be told that the money we did pay in taxes that we thought was helping kids after school should be paying the salaries of Garafallo, Franken, or Rhodes.

Oh and for what it's worth. Al Franken - as yet to recognize or apologize to his listeners for the wrong doing his parent company is involved in here. Isn't that worth at least a review by the FCC?

Women and Christianity

There are many today in liberal circles (especially universities) who espouse the erroneous idea that Biblical Christianity oppresses women. This is because of certain Scriptures such as Ephesians 5:22 where is tells “wives to submit to their own husband as unto the Lord”. What most people fail to do is read the verse before where it teaches us to “submit to one another in the fear of the Lord”-thus giving women equality and in equal say in most family decisions. Other passages in Ephesians these critics fail to read is Ephesians 5: 27, (men ought to love their wives as Christ loved the church) and 5:33. (Men should love their wives as themselves) I say this because of a New York Times article today that shows how horribly contemporary women are treated today in many countries of the world. If you look around, women are treated the best and recognized as equals to men (concerning their worth and value) in the nations where Christianity has had the most influence. Christian reformers in this country were the ones responsible for the women’s rights movement including the suffrage movement. If you want to see oppression , just go to a country like China where female infants are abandoned or killed,(because of the one child per family law) Muslim counties (Islam teaches men can have multiple wives, women have to hide their faces and walk behind their husband and where spousal abuse is very high) or a Hindu country such as India (where up until recently widowed wives in some places are burned to death so they can be buried with their husband!) If I was a woman, I would definitely want this nation to turn back to its Christian roots!

The New York Daily News reported today that the board of education announced a new policy in which they will enforce the acceptance of males who dress and act like females and visa versa. They may try to enforce this but it will never work because people will never accept anything that goes against nature and young people (unfortunately) will make fun of folks who look, act and dress like the opposite sex.

As shown in today’s New York Post Online Edition, Senate Majority leader Bill Frist announced that he is now in favor of increased federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. Mr. Frist, supposedly a pro-life conservative, has now positioned himself against President Bush and the conservative base of America. Democratic leaders were quick to praise Frist. To quote the article:

“‘It is a decision that will bring hope to millions of Americans,’ said Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada.”

Conservatives and Christians like myself would rephrase this statement from Mr. Reid like this: It is a decision that will continue to bring death to millions of unborn Americans.

“Said Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass.: ‘As a physician, Sen. Frist has a moral calling to save lives and alleviate suffering. He honors his Hippocratic Oath today by recognizing the unique healing power of embryonic stem cells.’”

I would rephrase this: As a physician, Sen. Frist has a moral calling to save lives and alleviate suffering. He dishonors his Hippocratic Oath today by changing his position for political advantage by perpetuating the culture of death manifest in embryonic stem cell research.

Rev. Al Sharpton Sounding like Bishop Harry Jackson

NewsMax.com reports today that Former Democratic presidential candidate Al Sharpton blasted blacks on Thursday for what he described as their blind support of the Democratic Party without demanding anything in return.

Sharpton, during his remarks at the National Urban League's annual conference in Washington, noted that his fellow Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, have taken African-American voters for granted and failed to act in the best interests of the black community.

Clinton enjoyed significant African-American support and was affectionately referred to by many in the black community as America's "first black president."

"We must stop allowing people to gain politically from us if they're not reciprocating when dealing and being held accountable," said Sharpton, referring to the allegiance that African-American voters maintain to the Democratic Party.

"As long as we allow people to get elected off of us and deliver nothing to us, then part of our problem is that we have such low political self esteem," he said. "Every time we give them support for no support, we add to the marginalization of black men."

Sharpton also took aim at black popular culture.

Noting that in some U.S. cities, black male unemployment exceeds 50 percent, Sharpton said black music and movies only aggravate the situation.

Referring to gangster rappers, Sharpton said, "We've gone from 'black and proud' to groups now calling themselves "Niggers with an attitude."

Sharpton told the panel discussion of how he has confronted rappers about their lyrics only to be told that the rappers simply "reflect the times." Sharpton said black art and culture used to project its "hopes for the future."

"In slavery we wasn't singing, 'you a low down cotton pickin ho.' That would've reflected the times," he said to more laughter and applause.

"In the civil rights era, we sang "We shall overcome" we didn't sing 'You in the back of the bus, got gum on your show, no good MF.' I mean we've been down before. We never romanticized it and put melody to it and acted like it was all right," he added.

Sharpton concluded his discussion with a call for the black community to help itself and return churches to "the center of our community."

Sen. Patrick Leahy indicates he won't vote to confirm John Roberts to the Supreme Court unless the judge endorses Roe v. Wade.

Experience... Qualifications... Forget about it! According to the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee Roe. v. Wade is the litmus test for our Supreme Court Justices!

On a radio interview Wednesday Leahy said that John Roberts won't get his vote unless the judge publicly affirms his unequivocal support for abortion rights.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said Leahy was setting a "dangerous precedent."

"Sen. Leahy's litmus test," Perkins explained, "would force Judge Roberts to act unethically by making a pledge to rule a specific way on a case that might one day come before the Supreme Court."

Leahy's declaration came one day after Illinois Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin reportedly questioned Roberts in private about his religious beliefs.

"Durbin asked specifically if John Roberts' devout Catholic faith—he's a regular attender at his church—would conflict with his duties as a Supreme Court justice," Gary Marx, executive director of the Judicial Confirmation said.

It's a backdoor way, he said, of trying to make sure a candidate supports abortion—and it would seem to be latent discrimination.

"Underneath the questioning is the suspicion that a person cannot do their job if they are a devout Catholic or devout evangelical," Marx said.

I said it when President Bush nominated Roberts; "Expect an uphill climb."

Iran Will Restart Nuclear Program

TEHRAN, July 27 - Next week, August 1st, Iran's supreme religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, will decide whether or not they will restart their nuclear program.

Britain, Germany and France are to present an incentive proposal in an effort to persuade Iran to maintain the suspension of its uranium enrichment program. Last November, Iran agreed to suspend its enrichment-related activities until the Europeans presented their proposal.

Two senior diplomats involved in the talks, from Britain and France, confirmed that the presentation would occur on schedule, but said that the plan was not yet final.

Yesterday Iran's departing president Mohammad Khatami said that the country's senior officials had decided to resume activities at one nuclear site no matter what incentives were in a European proposal expected next week.

Khatami made the comment during one of his last meetings with journalists as president. He will be succeeded Aug. 6 by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a conservative who has said Iran has no intention of making nuclear weapons but will not give up its right to peaceful nuclear technology.
Mr. Khatami said, "Whether the Europeans mention our right in their would-be proposals or not, we will definitely resume work in Isfahan," the site of a uranium processing plant.

"We prefer to do it with their agreement. If they don't agree, then the decision to start activities in Isfahan has already been made by the ruling system."

Under the Iranian Constitution, major state policies, like decisions over nuclear activities, are made by the supreme religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

At the Isfahan plant, 155 miles south of Tehran, uranium ore is converted into gas. The gas can later be fed into centrifuges for enrichment to produce fuel for nuclear bombs or reactors. Iran contends it wants to make its own fuel for nuclear energy.

So, it's clear that the Iranians will restart their nuclear program no matter what incentives the Europeans give them not to.

History will bear me out on this... no matter what a nation says to your face they are always developing weapons behind your back!

Iran, like North Korea, is a trouble spot... and this is where the political waters turn rough... do we, America, become the world police to make sure that these rogue nations do not develop WMD and become potentially more dangerous than ever before?

In my opinion, yes. And we need to make sure that bleeding heart liberals don't get in the way too. Because you can be sure that they will. They will talk about how cruel we are... how we push our weight around to get our own way.

But they never get the point that if you don't stop these people they will try to annihilate us!

The Media’s Questionable Priorities

A fantastic article by Nicholas Kristof in Tuesday’s New York Times underscores what many of us have been saying for years: that the mainstream media often exercises poor judgment in regards to what it chooses to be reported. Much of the news is celebrity-driven and superficial. (That’s why blogging is becoming more and more popular!)

Kristof bases his article on the fact that the media has mostly been silent concerning the horrible genocide taking place in Darfur, while giving an inordinate amount of coverage to celebrity trials such as the Michael Jackson spectacle.

According to the article: “Last month, CNN, Fox News, NBC, MSNBC, ABC and CBS collectively ran 55 times as many stories about Michael Jackson as they ran about genocide in Darfur.”

He continues:
“According to monitoring by the Tyndall Report, ABC News had a total of 18 minutes of the Darfur genocide in its nightly newscasts all last year - and that turns out to be a credit to Peter Jennings. NBC had only 5 minutes of coverage all last year, and CBS only 3 minutes - about a minute of coverage for every 100,000 deaths. In contrast, Martha Stewart received 130 minutes of coverage by the three networks.

“Incredibly, more than two years into the genocide, NBC, aside from covering official trips, has still not bothered to send one of its own correspondents into Darfur for independent reporting.”

Kristof even praises Christianity Today: “the newsweeklies should be embarrassed that better magazine coverage of Darfur has often been in Christianity Today.”

Planned Parenthood has a third national campaign targeting Roberts and, in addition, is pushing Senators to have Roberts grilled specifically on whether he will protect abortion as a constitutional right. New York Senator Chuck Schumer, who is emerging as the point-man for these groups for the upcoming confirmation hearings, said that he will do just that. No matter how inappropriate it might be, given the fact that the Supreme Court will hear another abortion case this fall and certainly more in the future, Sen. Schumer essentially intends to ask a potential Supreme Court justice, "How will you vote when abortion cases come before you?"
I have only mentioned a few of the prominent organizations mounting major campaigns that will assure that the John Roberts confirmation hearing will be contentious and perhaps downright ugly. Some are even attacking Roberts because his wife is a lawyer for a national pro-life organization, Feminists for Life.
Our FRC strategy is to overwhelm Senators with public support for the President's choice of Roberts and to make sure that Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Arlen Specter conducts a fair hearing - one that does not get out of hand as the hearings for Robert Bork did years ago. As you recall, FRC and a great number of pro-family groups opposed Sen. Specter last year for the chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee because of his pro-abortion views. We feared that he could derail a pro-life nominee to the Supreme Court. I feel it is necessary now to let Sen. Specter know that thousands of Americans from across the land ask for a fair and respectful hearing -- not the one plotted by many in the pro-abortion camp. Does Bin Laden Control Afghan Opium Trade?

The White House is concerned about the purported al-Qaida drug link which is reportedly funding nuclear terrorism.

Osama bin Laden has spent billions of dollars on the successful purchase and development of nuclear weapons – money his al-Qaida terrorist network earned by directing poppy cultivation in the fields of Afghanistan, right under the noses of U.S. occupation forces, reports Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan noted that President Bush discussed the issue with Afghan President Karzai in a recent White House visit.

The two leaders "talked about the steps they're taking to crack down on the trafficking in illegal drugs, and to … crack down on the drug trafficking networks inside Afghanistan," McClellan said.

But the vast drug fortune already has aided al-Qaida in smuggling nuclear weapons – along with thousands of sleeper agents – over the Mexican border with the help of the MS-13 gang says journalist Paul L. Williams, who documents the stunning revelation in his upcoming book, "The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime and the Coming Apocalypse."

According to captured al-Qaida leaders and documents, bin Laden's terrorist network has a plan called "American Hiroshima" involving the multiple detonation of nuclear weapons already smuggled into the U.S.

Al-Qaida has obtained at least 40 nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union – including suitcase nukes, nuclear mines, artillery shells and even some missile warheads.

In addition, documents captured in Afghanistan show al-Qaida had plans to assemble its own nuclear weapons with fissile material it purchased on the black market.

Afghanistan was selling $7 billion to $8 billion worth of drugs in the West each year according to Yossef Bodansky, former director of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare and author of "Bin Laden: The Man Who Declared War on America," by the late 1990s, under bin Laden's direction.

Isn't it about time that we do something about this and not just talk about it?!

Harper's Magazine's Hate Against Christians

In the May issue of Harper's magazine, which ran a series of cover-story articles under the headline, "The Christian Right's War on America." The stories themselves delivered exactly what the headline promised.
Harper's editor Lewis H. Lapham began the foul festivities -- which were worthy, at least verbally, of Nero -- with his mocking and vitriolic article, "The Wrath of the Lamb."
Roasted on Lapham's spit was the National Association of Evangelicals, after the group announced the release of its theological manifesto outlining Christian responsibilities in society. The document was, Lapham said, "a bullying threat backed with the currencies of jihadist fervor and invincible ignorance."
The Religious Right, in his view, consists of "increasingly large numbers of increasingly enraged and paranoid disciples who came together as a political constituency" just in time to get George Bush re-elected. The Christian cultural agenda consists in "stupidity" resulting from "the gospels of fear and hate" espoused by believers. Apparently left with some ink in his printer cartridge, Lapham also declared that the ideology of the Christian Right "has engulfed vast tracts of the American mind in the fogs of superstition."
Also in Harper's was "Feeling the Hate with the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB)," an article by Chris Hedges, an author and former journalist. The story is based on his observations at the NRB's annual convention. Addressing his concerns about "the new militant Christianity," Hedges spends his 5,000 or so words mischaracterizing and maligning believers in the worst way. What conservative Christians really want, he apprises the reader, is to "dismantle the democratic state."
In the end, Hedges uses what may be the worst type of slander known to the modern mind: comparing Christians to the Nazis. He recalls the words of his Harvard Divinity School ethics professor, Dr. James Luther Adams, who apparently forewarned his students of the coming day when they would be fighting the "Christian fascists."
Hedges wrote: "But fascism, warned Adams, ... would not return wearing swastikas and brown shirts. Its ideological inheritors would cloak themselves in the language of the Bible; they would come carrying crosses and chanting the Pledge of Allegiance."

When Profiling is Necessary

Much has been said the past few years about how the police (e.g. New Jersey State Troopers) have been involved in racial profiling when it comes to stopping and searching cars and persons because of the color of one's skin or ethnicity (especially when it comes to African-Americans and Latinos). Although I am half Puerto Rican (my mother was born in Puerto Rico with a maiden name of Rodriguez) I am in favor of profiling when it comes to this most recent terrorist threat. In spite of the fact that all the terrorists are unabashedly committing these atrocities in the name of Islam, Mayor Bloomberg and the New York Police Department were on news telecasts announcing that they are going to start randomly checking the bags of those going on trains and buses, beginning July 25. They emphasized the word random so as not to offend the Muslim community. Although the large majority of those in the Arab and Muslim community are decent people, I believe this is foolishness. How long are we going to be politically correct and make believe that terrorism is neutral? Why should an elderly African-American woman have her bags checked for a bomb when all the terrorist attacks against our nation (and most of the world as well), with the exception of Timothy McVeigh in Oklahoma, were all carried out by zealots who do what they believe is according to their faith in the name of Allah?

Oakland Requires ID Chips for Dogs

You have no choice but to have a microchip imbedded under your skin in Oakland, Calif. – if you’re a dog.

City officials have drafted an ordinance that requires dog owners to have a rice-sized I.D. chip implanted in their pets.

This is that chip I just told you about...

And those who don’t comply could be hit with a fine of $100 for a second offense and $1,000 for subsequent infractions.

"It is very effective, cheap and easy. We hope it will result in more dogs being reunited with their owners," said police Sergeant David Cronin, head of the animal services department.

The intrusive measure not only makes it a crime for a pet owner to forgo the chip, but also forces owners to pay $10 to have the chip implanted.

The chip stores an I.D. number that can be read by a scanner and provides a link to the animal's owner. It will help police deal with dog theft, a growing problem, the Daily Times reports.

It can tell you where the dog is... OK, now you start to get all the good news about having these chips implanted in your kids... track them if they're lost or kidnapped. Great!

Tommy Thompson Gets Chip Implant

Former Secretary of Health & Human Services Tommy Thompson is the nation's leading advocate for the health and welfare of all Americans. He is the 19th individual to serve as Secretary of the department, which employs more than 60,000 personnel and has a fiscal year 2001 budget of $429 billion.

Thompson plans to promote a product made by his new company. The chip is filled with personal information and it is the size of a piece of rice. He is having one implanted in his arm.

"It doesn't cause any pain," Thompson told Paul Bedard, who writes the Washington Whispers column in U.S. News & World Report.

The chip is made by Florida-based VeriChip, which recently added Thompson to its board of directors.

The rice-size chip contains a 16-digit identification code that can be scanned at hospitals and then linked to a database containing the chip wearer's medical data.

But it can do much more than carry medical information...

So far about 2,000 medical chips have been implanted worldwide, and two hospitals in the U.S. are already equipped to scan them. "People are dying all the time," Thompson told Washington Whispers, "because they can't access their medical information overseas."

The chip was approved by the FDA last year. By that time more than 1,000 chips had been implanted in patients in Mexico. And nearly 200 people working in Mexico's attorney general's office were implanted with I.D. chips to access secure areas containing sensitive documents.
Some have suggested using an implanted chip to assist the military in locating a downed pilot, or to help find a lost or kidnapped child.

But not everyone is thrilled with the notion of an implanted chip that could contain a wide array of information about an individual.

Scott McDonald of the Web site Scan This News warned: "All movement, transactions, and interactions can be recorded and monitored once everyone has their own unique identifier. Every detail of a person's life will be finally accessible to authorities through the widespread use of implanted chips."

The New York Times is using the story of a blogging gay teenager known only as "Zach" to question the legitimacy of Love in Action International, a Christian ministry designed to prevent or remediate homosexual behavior. When Zach told his parents he was gay, they enrolled him in Refuge, the Love in Action youth program based in Memphis. "It's like boot camp," Zach wrote in his web journal before entering program. "If I do come out straight, I'll be so mentally unstable and depressed it won't matter."

Same-sex marriage was legalized across Canada by the Civil Marriage Act enacted on July 20, 2005. Prior to its passage, court decisions in eight of ten provinces (including the three most populous) and one of three territories had legalized the issue of marriage licences to same-sex couples; this had amounted to about 29.2 million Canadians (89.7% of the population) living in provinces and territories where same-sex marriages are legal. Most legal benefits commonly associated with marriage had been extended to co-habiting same-sex couples since 1999.
The Civil Marriage Act was introduced by Paul Martin's Liberal government in the Canadian House of Commons on February 1, 2005 as Bill C-38. Car Bomb Blast in Turkey

This is Kusadasi, Turkey where a man is taking care of a woman who was injured at the site where a bomb blast ripped through a minubus.

The body of British tourist Helen Bennett, who was one of those killed, was flown back to England. The blast also claimed the life of Tara Wheelan, a teenager from Ireland. Her body was flown home on Monday night.

These girls were among five people killed and 13 injured when the explosion ripped apart a minibus shuttling between central Kusadasi and a nearby beach Saturday in western Turkey.

Why Turkey? Because of their position on the invasion of Iraq most likely.

Once again we see that terrorists are the enemy of all civilized people!

Egyptian Resort Rocked by Car Bombs

A number of car bombs, most likely four, and several other blasts shook the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik Saturday. The targets: several hotels filled with European and Egyptian tourists.

The area was filled with fire and smoke from Naama Bay, a strip of beach hotels at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula.

British, Dutch, Egyptians, Kuwaitis, Qataris, Russian and Saudis were among the dead.

You ask why would terrorists strike at this resort? Sharm has been a meeting place where world leaders have tried to come an peace agreement in the Mideast.

This is the place where Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas met there in February and agreed to a cease-fire.

In October of 2004 other resorts were struck and the blasts were attributed to Palestinians.

When terrorists hit the USA on 9-11-2001 America was shaken to its core...
Now they have hit London...
Turkey...
Now, Egypt...

Maybe Arab nations will begin to realize that these fanatics are their enemies as well as ours and maybe, just maybe, we can join together to eradicte them.

Movies of Choice for Evangelicals

Last week I heard on 96.3 FM (classical station) a report from the New York Times in which they stated that movie producers are now attempting to satisfy the growing market for Evangelical Christians (as shown in movies like Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ) but they have a dilemma: Evangelicals are a third more likely to view violent movies and even R-rated movies than non-religious liberals. This inconsistency makes it hard for these producers to determine what kind of movie to put out to Evangelicals and even conservatives. If this study is true, the only thing I can think of to explain this phenomenon is the fact that many of the violent movies viewed depict good versus evil that reflect the morally absolute universe of the Evangelical. On the other hand, liberals can’t relate to a fight to the finish against evil (as shown in their opposition to any and all wars since the Vietnam War) because of their relativistic bent in terms of morality.

Is Judge Roberts A Conservative Humanist?

There are many Evangelical Christians who believe that if someone is a conservative they are also a Christian or have a Christian worldview. Nothing is further from the truth! I know of many conservatives who have that political leaning simply because it makes the most logical sense. This is not Christianity but pragmatism. The basis of defining whether someone has a biblical worldview compatible with biblical Christianity in terms of law and politics is to simply ask them this question: What is the basis of true law? If it is human opinion, then even if your opinion leads you to conclude that conservatism is the most logical ideology for our nation to follow, you are still a humanist (someone whose rule of law emanates from human opinion and not transcendent law). This is a problem because if a person’s sense of morality is not rooted and grounded in absolutes then one day this same conservative may become a liberal because of the vicissitudes of life. We all know by now that Judge John Roberts has been classified as a conservative. But that shouldn’t be enough for Evangelical Christians to shout and praise God. We should save the shouting until we find out the answer to the all important question posed above. If he is truly an originalist who interprets the Constitution on the basis of original intent, then his basis for rule of law is Scripture because the framers had a biblical worldview. Settlement of an ACLU court case in California includes a mandatory daylong faculty training on what the legal groups calls "diversity, discrimination and harassment, focused primarily on issues pertaining to actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity." And earlier this month in the Bluegrass State, the ACLU accused the Boyd County Board of Education of failing to hold up its end of an agreement to provide mandatory training focused on "sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination."
Bob Knight is director of the Culture and Family Institute (CFI), affiliated with Concerned Women for America in Washington, DC. Knight contends the ACLU is trying to undermine parents' values. "The ACLU is probably best described as the 'Anti-Christian Legal Unit,' because Christians kids in these public schools are being told that their beliefs amount to a form of bigotry," he says.

The CFI leader believes the ACLU is employing Chairman Mao's technique of re-indoctrination. "The ACLU is telling these school officials and parents 'We're going to educate your children about homosexuality, whether you like it or not -- and we're going to do it armed with court orders. That's why we're taking this to court,'" Knight shares. "This is bullying of a major sort."
In the Kentucky situation, parents have resisted pro-homosexual promotions, holding their children out of school on a designated "sensitivity training" day. According to the ACLU, only 502 of the 965 high school students and 462 of the 730 middle school students attended the training. That infuriated the ACLU, Knight says.
"The ACLU has come back to court saying parents can't do that. [Essentially they are saying] 'You must force your children to sit through our sessions that we have dictated to be the truth,'" he explains. "I mean, these people are totalitarian-minded bullies."
Knight charges these are the same type of tactics Chairman Mao Tse-tung employed in the Communist takeover of China when millions were re-indoctrinated into his political and social ideals.

In London today a spokesman for the Professional Association of Teachers said that the word "fail" should be banned from the classroom. In its place would be the phrase "deferred success".

What the heck is "deferred success"???

Their spokesman said that telling a student that they have "failed" can demoralize them to the point that they won't want to learn for the rest of their life.

The spokesman also said that they did not want to label children.

"We recognize that children do not necessarily achieve success first time," he said.

Now I don't know where these teachers went to school but where I grew up out in Long Island, NY we knew about failing pretty early in life. And you know what??? Those that failed usually failed because they didn't want to do the work.

It was all pretty simple. It wasn't failing that made them not want to learn... No, it was not wanting to learn that made them fail!

Abortion Hits 30 Year Low

According to an article in the Duluth News Tribune, abortions in Minnesota reached a 30 year low in 2004. Abortion opponents credit a state abortion law supporters call “a woman’s right to know” in which women seeking an abortion need to wait 24 hours after being given information regarding the procedure. The article states:

“Since July 2003, state law requires doctors to give women who seek abortions information about medical risks, gestational age of the unborn child, potential fetal pain, subsidized health coverage for childbirth and prenatal and infant care, and child support laws.

“For the first time, this year's abortion report also included the number of women -- 15,859 -- who contacted doctors and got the required information about abortion.

“That helps calculate a hotly debated number -- more than 2,000 women who sought abortions and apparently didn't go through with them.”
Recently, I proposed legislation to New York State Senator Martin Golden called “The Power of Informed Choice” in which a woman seeking an abortion would first be required to view an ultra sound image of the baby before the infant is terminated. Let’s pray that the New York State Senate is able to pass this bill.

Judge Roberts Selected by Prez

From ABC News: "President Bush's appointee John G. Roberts Jr., 50, was confirmed to a judgeship on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in 2003, and was sworn in by Chief Justice William Rehnquist, whom he had previously served as a law clerk."

"Roberts is considered to be well-liked on Capitol Hill, and members of both parties have praised him as a man who possesses a keen intellect and a sharp legal mind."

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., Roberts is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School who argued 39 cases before the Supreme Court and won 25. He was a partner with Hogan & Hartson in Washington, D.C, where he developed a civil litigation practice, with an emphasis on appellate matters.

Roberts was principal deputy solicitor general under President George H.W. Bush, who first nominated him for the D.C. Circuit Court in 1992. He was opposed by Democrats and never received a vote. He was re-nominated in 2001, and his nomination languished until a third nomination by Bush in 2003, when he won unanimous confirmation.

He also was special assistant to U.S. Attorney General William French Smith and served as associate White House counsel for four years under President Ronald Reagan."

COMMENT: Roberts is seen as a conservative and will go through the mill during confirmation hearings. He is a pro-life person and there are many in power who don't like that. Expect an uphill battle.

According to July 13 edition of Chuck Colson’s “Breakpoint,” a book just came out called The Trouble with Islam: A Muslim’s Call for Reform in Her Faith, by Irshad Manji. The author, a Muslim woman, credits Evangelical Christianity for giving her the impetus to engage in critical thinking and ask hard questions of her faith. Chuck Colson says in his Breakpoint commentary: “The contrast between the two schools left Manji convinced that the problem with Islam is not that the religion has been ‘hijacked’ by extremists, as many said following September 11. Rather, it’s that the extremists, the Koranic literalists, comprise what she calls ‘the intellectually atrophied and morally impaired mainstream’ of Islam. Volunteers Guard Mexican Border

Outside of San Diego's remote mountains volunteers began patrolling the border watching for illegal immigrants and drug smugglers. This is the start of a campaign by "California Border Watch" to draw attention to the nation's porous border with Mexico. About 30 volunteers joined the first patrol of a 26-mile stretch of rolling hills from Jacumba to Tecate. The patrols are following the model begun in the Arizona desert earlier this year.

Jim Chase, a former Arizona Minuteman volunteer is leading the California patrols, which will continue through Aug. 7. He said volunteers will call the Border Patrol if they spot illegal border activity.

Chase, who is also a retired postal worker, said he and others are carrying guns only for self-defense and promised that the volunteer border patrol will not initiate attacks.

"The guns are for one reason - to keep my people alive..."

On Saturday, a loud group of about 100 protesters temporarily drove away the border patrol volunteers to chants of "racists, go home."

Why is that liberals think that protecting our borders from drug smugglers, illegals and now, possibly al-qaeda terrorists is racism? The problem is not ethnic... it economic.

On the front page of today’s New York Times is the story of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, the first church in American history to crack the 30,000 mark in church attendance. According to the article, the pastor of the church, Joel Osteen, 43, has been used of God to heal the bad stigma television ministers have had since the scandal ridden 80’s of Jimmy Swaggert and Jim Bakker. According to one expert, it is very likely the church will reach 50,000 members by the end of the year because they already have four weekly services in their new 16,000 seat arena (formerly the arena for the Houston Rockets NBA basketball team). Though Joel is helping to put Christianity in a positive light nationally, his message is one-dimensional, usually based on a perspective of “self-help” as he avoids taking a position on controversial issues such as abortion and same-sex marriage. Thus, Lakewood will probably never directly affect systemic sin and transform the culture (although indirectly it will help the economy and quality of life of Houston because he teaches biblical principles of giving and prosperity based on tithing, and because folks who come to know Christ will more likely become productive contributing citizens).

MS 13 Linked to Al-Qaeda

A reputed MS-13 gang member arrested for sneaking into Texas illegally alongside a Bangladeshi Muslim last month is an accused cop killer suspected of killing two police officers in Honduras.

Last week, the Herald reported that the Islamic man, Fakrhul Islam, and alleged MS-13 member Frankie Sanchez-Solorzano, 21, were arrested along with 11 others on Dec. 4 for entering the country illegally by wading across the Rio Grande.

The arrests of the two men increased concerns that the brutal gang, Mara Salvatruca - considered terrorists in Central America - will take money from the highest bidder, including Islamic fundamentalists.

Attorney General John Ashcroft has publicly said a high-ranking al-Qaeda leader, Adnan El-Shukrijumah, has offered top dollar to infiltrate the United States.

FBI agents and investigators assigned to the Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency interviewed Islam, whose age was unknown, but he was released after the investigation determined he was "not a terrorist,'' Manny Van Pelt, spokesman for ICE, said yesterday.

Islam's whereabouts are now unknown after he was given a "notice to appear'' warrant that requires him to face an immigration judge within six months.

Van Pelt did not know what Islam's purpose in the United States was, or where he was going.
How did they determine he was not a terrorist? How sure were they? Wouldn't it have been at least minimally prudent to keep an eye on him for awhile?

Give me a break! What purpose could a Muslim have for sneaking in America???

MS13 The Most Dangerous Gang in America

In the early 1980s approximately 100,000 people were killed in the civil war in el Salvador and more than one million people fled to the U.S.

The Salvadorian refugees and immigrants initially settled primarily in southern California and Washington, D.C.. Some of the refugees and immigrants had ties with La Mara, a violent street gang from El Salvador.

Others had been members of paramilitary groups like the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMNL) during the civil war. FMNL was made up of Salvadorian peasants who were trained as guerilla fighters. Many were adept at using explosives, firearms, and booby traps. Most of the Salvadorian refugees settled in the established Hispanic neighborhoods of the "Rampart" area of Los Angeles.

However, Salvadorians were not readily accepted into the Los Angeles Hispanic community, and were frequently targeted by local Hispanic gangs.

As a result, in the late 1980s, some refugees and refugee members of La Mara and FMNL formed what is now known as the Mara Salvatrucha (MS) street gang in Los Angeles. Like many other street gangs, MS initially formed for protection, but quickly developed a reputation for being organized and extremely violent.

Since its inception in California and Washington, DC, Mara Salvatrucha has expanded into New York, New Jersey and 30 other States as well as Canada, and Mexico.

MS is unique in that, unlike traditional U.S. street gangs, it maintains active ties with MS members and factions in El Salvador. Mara Salvatrucha is truly an international gang.

Last year, Honduran Security Minister Oscar Alvarez raised alarm when he said al-Qaeda might be trying to recruit Central American gang members to help terrorists infiltrate the USA.

On Monday, Salvadoran President Tony Saca said he could "not rule out a link between terrorists and Central American gang members."

Despite these dire warnings the FBI says that there is no basis to support this allegation of al-Qaeda ties to MS-13 (Mara Salvatrucha).

But Rep. Solomon Ortiz, D-Texas, said last month, "We know from El Salvadoran law enforcement that al-Qaeda is meeting with violent gang leaders in El Salvador. We have also had reports that Middle Easterners have been sighted on the banks of the Rio Grande."

Robert Clifford, the head of the new task force dismisses these claims: "To have something as sophisticated as al-Qaeda overtly align and identify itself with a group of misfits is improbable."

Really? Al-Qaeda is running the opium-heroin business but they wouldn't get into the smuggling business?

It's time to close our borders to Mexico folks...

According to captured al-Qaida leaders there is a plan called "American Hiroshima".

It involves the multiple detonation of nuclear weapons which have already been smuggled into the U.S. over the Mexican border with the help of the MS-13 street gang and other organized crime groups.

There are military sources that say there is evidence to suggest al-Qaida is paying former Russian special forces Spetznaz to assist the terrorist group in locating nuclear weapons formerly concealed inside the U.S. by the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

There are also supposed to be high level U.S. officials who believe at least some of those weapons have been smuggled into the U.S. for use in the near future in major cities as part of this "American Hiroshima" plan, according to an upcoming book, "The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime and the Coming Apocalypse," by Paul L. Williams, a former FBI consultant.

According to Williams Bin Laden has remained in control of the Afghanistan-produced heroin industry. Poppy production has greatly increased even while U.S. troops are occupying the country, he writes. Al-Qaida has also supposed to have developed close relations with the Albanian Mafia, which assists in the smuggling and sale of heroin throughout Europe and the U.S.

Some of that money is used to pay off the notorious MS-13 street gang between $30,000 and $50,000 for each sleeper agent smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico. The sleepers are also provided with phony identification, most often bogus matricula consular ID cards indistinguishable from Mexico's official ID, now accepted in the U.S. to open bank accounts and obtain driver's licenses.

It's time to WAKE UP AMERICA...

Who Bush Should Nominate

In the past few weeks since Sandra Day O’Connor announced her retirement, various groups have been pushing for President Bush to pick a person that reflects their ethnicity, gender or values. U.S. Senator Charles Schumer said that Bush should pick a “consensus Judge”( meaning – a person who’s frame of reference for judicial decisions is the perceived opinion of the majority of the people) ; Even first lady Laura Bush said that she hoped her husband would choose a woman to replace Mrs. O’Connor . But thus far nobody has mentioned Character, integrity, intelligence, making decisions based on the original intent of the constitution and understanding the transcendent nature of Law as the criteria to sit on the Supreme Court. Exodus Chapter 18:21, 22; Deuteronomy 16:18, 19 teaches what the qualifications should be for a judge:
Ability
Fear God ( as the source for transcendent law )
Hating covetousness (not susceptible to bribery )
Judge the people with Just Judgment
Is not a respecter of persons ( treat the rich and the poor alike)

The bible has been the ideological fount for both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution; those sacred ideals have served our nation well for over 200 years. May the Scriptures guide President Bush as he chooses the next Judge to sit on the Supreme Court.

Hillary is Positioning Herself

A recent quote from the New York Times shows Hillary’s move to the center/right: “In 2000, she promised abortion rights supporters that she would be second to none as an ally, and in 2005 she said she looked forward to the day when abortions take place ‘only in very rare circumstances.’” Statements like this cause pundits to predict that Hillary (sensing the obvious--that America is getting more conservative) is positioning herself to run for president in 2008.
Although I allow for a person to change their position on an issue; what frightens me is the fact that politicians often act like chameleons, which can change their appearance according to their environment. I have personally heard anti-Christian politicians use biblical language and scripture when speaking to a church. Before casting a vote for someone we should study a person’s political history and voting record and not just go by a speech that may be more “tongue and cheek” than a principled position based on conscience.

Leftist organizers admit to being overwhelmed by groups such as Young America’s Foundation, even though colleges and universities spend millions of dollars spreading liberalism. According to former Center for American Progress (CAP) campus programs director Ben Hubbard, “While today’s students remain somewhat more progressive than adults overall, progressive efforts are not as organized or well funded as efforts on the Right.”
Upon learning that pie-throwing doesn’t win debates, as was the case with Ann Coulter and David Horowitz earlier this year, leftists have finally organized a conference to discuss ideas—or that’s what they say. Campus Progress, a project of CAP, has initiated a national student conference today, July 13, in the nation’s capital designed to promote liberalism on college campuses.
It comes as no surprise that leftists are overwhelmed by conservative activism. For the past thirty years the Left has been regurgitating concepts that do not work: socialist, pacifist, redistributionist and other Leftists mantras that have long been proven dead. It’s time for them to dig a grave for these ideas and start anew. We welcome fresh debate, but reject the rhetorical and literal sliming of conservatives that has come to identify the Left.

The Reliability of Scientific Studies

During the NBC News tonight it was reported that 44 pct of the time scientific studies regarding things such as vitamins, drugs, supplements and food groups are found to be erroneous and almost 20 pct of the time they contradict each other. When an expert at Harvard was asked why, he basically said that it was because “science is always evolving”
It is commonly known that often times many grammar and high school science text books are outdated every 10 years because of recent findings. Given the weakness of empiricism (proving things in a laboratory) it is a wonder to me that many still put their faith and eternal destiny in an unproven theory such as evolution

Conservative United States Senator Rick Santorum’s new book It Takes a Family slams Hillary Clinton’s book It Takes a Village. Of course, both are correct: no matter how hard you try to raise your children properly they are also subject to the culture and people around them. That’s why it’s so important for all of us to take a stand against same-sex marriage and encourage biblical morality in societal laws. But these two books demonstrate one salient point: that liberals believe it is primarily the role of government to make sure a child’s needs are tended to, while conservatives believe we need stable families led by legally married fathers and mothers.
